Why is email marketing essential to your business?

Why is email marketing essential to your business?

Email marketing is one of the easiest and cost effective forms of outbound marketing in terms of return on investment with some sources citing a ROI of up to £40.00 for every £1.00 spent.  Of course, these figures are open to interpretation but the fact remains that email marketing is some of the most cost effective as it can be automated to a large extent, keeping the costs minimal, you can send the same information to an almost infinite number of customers and potential customers at the click of a link.  Marketers will tell you that it is easier to get an existing customer to buy from you again than acquire a new one and that is exactly why email marketing has such a good ROI.

If you are able to effectively email your existing customers and website users with timely and relevant offers, you will not only increase loyalty in your customers, you will enjoy the benefits to your bottom line that come with increased sales.

Email marketing suffers from being less exciting and edgy than the more prominent social media and inbound marketing channels but it out-performs them for a number of reasons, not limited to:

Mobility – with estimates that up to 53% of emails are opened on a mobile device and the number of mobile internet users growing ever larger, your message can be delivered anywhere.

Promotional Content – Social media users have less tolerance for promotional content, as opposed to email users who, by and large are happy to receive promotional emails.  In fact, special offer email marketing is amongst the most effective in terms of ROI.

Personalisation – You can personalise email even whilst sending the same thing to your entire mailing list as well as using segments to further refine and send highly targeted messages to selected subscribers based on previous behaviour.

Analytics - Most email marketing software will enable you to track and analyse your results whereas trying to get any meaningful ROI information from social media is tricky at best.

Here at Pure Systems we use MailChimp for our email marketing.  We have found it intuitive and easy to use, with great automation options, however until recently, were frustrated by the limited options for integrating it with our website subscriber forms in DNN. Our solution was to develop a new MailChimp module so that we could make the most of MailChimp’s custom sign up forms and better target our audience.

If you want to find out more about our DNN MailChimp module and get your 2016 marketing off to a great start, contact us for more information or visit the MailChimp DNN Module page on our website to download a free 30 day trial.
