Relays is an innovative programme designed to inspire young people and their communities to participate in, create and promote cultural and sporting activities in South West England.
Relays were looking for a clean and simple online portal to enable them to keep their target audiences (including young people, partners, sponsors and donors) up to date on all the latest events, news and information.
Having already used DotNetNuke (DNN) for their Content Management System at Herda-SW, Relays were keen to develop their new site in DNN.
The design of the site was to be loosely based on the Herda-SW, Expert South West and Study South West sites, bringing it inline and consistent with other projects.
Using the DNNArticles module, a range of functionality was implemented into the Relays site including latest news and case studies. Due to the flexibility of the DNNArticles module, we were able to customise the style of the information displayed to fit in with the design of the site and the Relays branding.
Users can use the site to see all the upcoming events, with an option to view this in calendar or list mode. This information can also be downloaded and imported into the users calendar application on their computer.
Video and image galleries were added to enable users to view any visual records of recent events. Relays staff can edit and upload images and video easily through the admin area of the DotNetNuke (DNN) CMS.
It was also a requirement that the site had to meet W3C and Web accessibility guidelines where possible.
On completion of the project, the site was handed over to Relays who now maintain and update both textual and graphical content.
