PLATOGB Ltd delivers leadership & management development support to small & medium-sized businesses including the PLATO™ peer-group learning programme.
PLATOGB wanted a brand new site designed and developed within a DotNetNuke CMS. They had a clear idea of what they wanted the site to look like and were involved from the start in the creation of the initial concept. It was important for the CMS to be understandable and easy to use, enabling PLATOGB staff to add, update and edit content easily and quickly.
The site was split into two parts - a public area including information about joining PLATOGB and a member's area where registered users would be able to use the built in networking site and associated functionality.
Users of the public area of the site can access a case studies section and perform a site search using implemented functionality. The case studies section can be easily edited by PLATOGB staff through the CMS.
Registered users of the site and members of PLATOGB can access the networking section which uses a wide range of functionality including case studies, events listings, members' forum and instant messaging between members.
Categorised search functionality was implemented into the members' site and to enable registered users to search for professionals based on their skill set. This was done through the use of checkboxes and keywords.
Members can create a profile, similar to other networking sites, which can be customised to feed in areas of interest such as upcoming events and latest news. Members can also become part of a bigger group and receive notifications of any information associated with that group.
It was also a requirement that the site had to meet W3C and Web accessibility guidelines where possible.
On completion of the project, the site was handed over to PLATOGB who now maintain and update both textual and graphical content.
