West Dorset Leisure Holidays (WDLH) is a family run establishment, they own and manage five caravan parks all situated in and around the Dorset coastline.
WDLH wanted to update their existing site (including design) and transfer it to a DotNetNuke Content Management System. Due to the large volume of information contained within the site, it was a necessity that the CMS was easy to use.
The site was split into 6 sections - 5 park sub-sites and a generic area for information which related to WDLH rather than a specific park. As the site was to remain consistent in layout, different colour schemes were introduced to each park enabling the user to easily identify what section they were in.
WDLH wanted a secure members area for their Caravan Holiday Home and Lodge Owners, enabling them to access up to date information regarding the park. The member's area was created within DNN and was developed so that passwords were automatically emailed to users once the subscription process had been completed. As the passwords are generated by the system it means that no one sees the passwords other than the subscriber, therefore making the system incredibly secure.
Users of the site can also subscribe to a range of newsletters relating to each park, book their holiday online and request and download brochures. There is a range of functionality including guestbooks (park related), picture galleries and webcams, all of which can be easily edited and updated by WDLH via the CMS.
As a new site structure was created it was important to undertake SEO work to ensure that all the existing content was re-directed to the new content.
It was also a requirement that the site had to meet W3C and Web accessibility guidelines where possible.
On completion of the project, the site was handed over to WDLH who now maintain and update both textual and graphical content.
