Originally founded as HERDA-SW, Universities South West is the higher education membership association for South West England, they represent a strong partnership of universities and higher education institutions working together in the South West.
Due to the new branding, Universities South West were looking to update their existing DotNetNuke website to display their new logo and colours, they also wanted to combine their three micro-sites (Expert South West, Study South West and Relays) to feature on the new site.
Firstly, the DNN CMS was upgraded to DNN 5, this gave Universities South West greater flexibility and choice over the functionality of the site.
All the existing functionality featured on the original HERDA-SW site was retained and upgraded, this included a news feed, case studies and a site search. Brand new functionality was then added to the re-branded site enabling users to download publications, podcasts and to search for upcoming events.
It was also a requirement that the site had to meet W3C and Web accessibility guidelines where possible.
On completion of the project, the site was handed over to Universities South West who now maintain and update both textual and graphical content.
